General consumer information
You can fix most of the malfunctions and errors that can occur in daily operation yourself. In many cases, you can save time and money by not having to call customer service. The following answers should help you to find and eliminate the cause of a malfunction or error.
What to do when ...
The cooktop cannot be switched on or operated.
1. The cooktop is not connected or not connected properly to the power supply.
Solution:
Check (qualified electrician) whether the cooktop is properly connected to the power supply. Refer to the connection diagram.
2. The fuse is blown or tripped in the fuse box/sub-distribution.
Solution:
Make sure the fuse is the cause of the malfunction. If the fuse blows repeatedly, contact a licensed electrician or customer service.
3. Two or more sensor fields were touched at the same time.
Solution:
Operate only one sensor field.
4. There are water or grease splashes on the control panel.
Solution:
Wipe the control panel.
The cooktop cannot be switched on or fails during operation.
If connecting terminals (e.g. WAGO terminals) are used in combination with existing wire end ferrules, the cooktop may malfunction.
Solution:
Check ( qualified electrician ) that all contacts are firmly and securely connected to the fixed connection (stove junction box) or possibly installation box. Replace WAGO terminals with screw terminals.
Error message U 400 is displayed and a continuous signal sounds.
The hob is incorrectly connected >300V.
Solution:
Connect cooktop correctly according to connection diagram
The error message E2 is displayed.
The electronics are too hot and therefore switch off. After the electronics have cooled down, the cooking zone works again.
Solution:
Check the installation of the cooktop, pay special attention to good ventilation (see chapter on overheating protection and ventilation).
Error message E6 is displayed.
There is a missing phase or component fault.
Solution:
Verify that the fuse is the cause of the malfunction. If the fuse blows repeatedly, contact a licensed electrician or customer service.
Error message E8 is displayed.
Fault on the fan of the induction generator.
Solution:
The intake opening is blocked below the hob (cutlery, packing material).
An acoustic signal (continuous tone) sounds or the error message ER03 is displayed.
At least one sensor field has been covered. Water or cookware on sensor field.
Solution:
Remove the object or clean the control panel.
The sensor buttons become hot.
The cookware is too big, or you put it too close to the controls.
Solution:
Place large cookware on the rear cooking zones if possible.
A flashing u appears in the cooking level display.
1. No pot has been placed on the surface.
Solution:
Place suitable cookware. (see below Operation-Pot detection).
2. The diameter of the cookware base is too small for the cooking zone.
Solution:
Use cookware with the correct dimensions (see below Operation-Pot detection limits).
3. There is unsuitable cookware on the cooking zone.
Solution:
Use pots with sufficient magnetic content (see below Operation-Potware for induction cooktop).
The induction hob emits noise (whistling, humming).
Depending on pot quality and pots are not centered on the cooking zone.
Solution:
A humming and whistling noise is due to technical reasons and cannot be avoided.
An operating noise/fan can be heard after the device is switched off.
The cooling fan of the electronics is lagging.
Solution:
No error, after cooling down of the electronics the fan switches off.
Pulsating cooking behavior at lower levels.
Is normal and has no negative effect on the cooking result.
Solution:
If possible, use pots with a thick base for good heat storage and distribution.
What happens if liquid runs into the cooktop exhaust?
The drainage tray can hold up to 500 ml, which can be easily wiped out. In addition, the base can be easily removed so that the entire device can be cleaned. If you run the automatic run-on function, the system blows itself dry and no further intervention is required.
What happens if an object falls into the cooktop extractor?
The position of the grease filter prevents the object from falling into the ventilation. In addition, the deflector plate provides safety.
How to clean downdraft ventilation?
Our benthaus downdraft ventilators are all very easy to clean. All parts are easy to remove and washable in lye or dishwasher. The trough is convenient to wipe out with a cloth. In addition, the grease filter should be cleaned regularly, i.e. after an intensive cooking process or at least once a month in lye or in the dishwasher.
Does a downdraft cooktop exhaust really work well?
The cooking vapor is drawn in where it arises - directly on the cooktop. Due to the fine adjustment of the fan in 9 levels + power level, this works very well even with high pots. To save energy, the pot lid should also always be used. This allows you to additionally direct the cooking vapor in the direction of the exhaust.
What is special about the benthaus design?
Schott's glass panel goes through nearly every finishing step possible to create the unique look of benthaus. The high-quality surface finish also makes scratches and wear appear less visible. The use of high-quality stainless steel with a matte finish also emphasizes the premium look.
Is a downdraft fan louder than a normal exhaust hood?
benthaus trough fans are basically quieter than normal cooking noise. Basically, the higher the motor power, the higher the noise level. That's why at benthaus the motors are precisely matched with the filters, so that a good extraction performance is guaranteed, but the noise pollution remains as quiet as possible. In addition, the different installation variants offer many more options for keeping the engine noise very low.
Are odors also extracted?
The cooking fumes are extracted and filtered directly where they arise - at the cooktop. If you then use the automatic run-on function, almost all grease and odors are extracted. With further use of a plasma filter, even intense cooking odors such as fish and spices can be neutralized in a very short time.
Where can I buy a benthaus cooktop?
Many high-quality kitchen studios already supply benthaus. Just send us an inquiry and we will find the nearest kitchen studio for you.
How long is the warranty on benthaus equipment?
Basically, the devices have a warranty of two years, which can be extended to 5 years.
What happens if the cooktop breaks?
benthaus has an in-house customer service. Send us a message or call us, we will help you as soon as possible.
Can the kitchen furniture be affected by the extractor fan?
No, if the moisture is discharged, as an extraction variant to the outside or as a recirculation variant into a charcoal or plasma filter, the wood of the furniture is not affected. It is always important that the automatic run-on function is not switched off manually.
Can I choose between air extraction and circulation?
Yes, each trough fan from benthaus has different sets for exhaust and recirculation.
How often does the carbon filter need to be changed?
This depends on the individual cooking behavior. The more intensive the cooking, the sooner a filter has to be changed; the intervals are approximately between one and five years.
Why do I need an automatic run-on function?
To ensure optimal performance of the odor-neutralizing activated charcoal filter, the automatic run-on function should always be left running. The time the fan runs in the automatic run-on function depends on the time the cooktop was previously in operation. The longer the cooking time, the longer the motor will run at level 1.
How to install a benthaus cooktop?
All cooktops and downdraft fans from benthaus can be installed flush or surface mounted. Side stainless steel frames can also be fitted as accessories.
Which pots are best suited for induction cooktops?
Cookware with a bottom that is as flat and thick as possible is best. An indicator for a lot of ferritic metal in the bottom of the pot is the test with a magnet - the stronger the magnet is attracted, the better the bottom of the pot, because there is a lot of ferritic material.
What is special about benthaus packaging?
benthaus stands for sustainability, it is important to us to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. Therefore, we have decided not to choose the usual packaging with styrofoam and plastic, but to use only cardboard. We also have little helpful surprises ready for the assembler and the owner.
Where can I find the unique serial number of my device?
The serial number can be found on the nameplate, which is printed once on the bottom of the device and again on the back of the user manual.
Do the cooktops also come with frames?
For all cooktops except the Rubin, a stainless steel side rack can be retrofitted.
